Chamonix Film Festival
Founded in Chamonix (and a little at PlanB 🙂 ) in 2020 by Christophe and Morgane Raylat, the Chamonix Film Festival offers 5 days in June honoring the big screen and the mountains. PlanB Chamonix is the base camp, a place for exchange during the festival.
Mountain Adventure Culture
Chamonix has been the mountaineering capital of the world for over two centuries, and its name resonates in the hearts of all mountain enthusiasts.
This founding principle led to the creation of the Chamonix Film Festival. More than a film festival, we have imagined this event as a great celebration of the mountains, adventure and mountain culture. Because mountaineering was born in Chamonix, our ambition is to pass on a heritage that dates back two centuries, and to reflect the current state of a mountain world in the throes of change.
Mountaineering and, more broadly, mountain adventures are no ordinary activities, and the summits are no mere playgrounds, but terrains of stakes. Since the end of 2019, mountaineering has been included in UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage. This tremendous recognition commits us to work to pass on the history and culture of the mountains, and to raise awareness of environmental issues, respect for the environment and the safety of mountaineering enthusiasts. This commitment will be at the heart of our festival.
Finally, Chamonix's influence has been international for two centuries, and our festival must be too. That's why, from the very first edition, we'll be offering streaming in two languages, to share our passion with all those who thrill at the mere mention of the name Chamonix.
